John Deere 9RX 830

John Deere 9RX 830

Back in July, I had the opportunity to photograph John Deere’s new flagship 9RX 830 four track articulated tractor at work in the company of Farm Machinery Journal editor Tom Laight.  The 33.5 tonne behemoth was first seen on public display in the UK at the Cereals 2025 event before embarking upon a series of demonstrations with farmers and contractors throughout the UK.

The 9RX 830 is powered by an 18lit inline six-cylinder JD18X engine equipped with dual turbocharging that pumps out a whopping 913hp and provides an outrageous 4234Nm of torque at just 1400rpm!  Power is fed to the tractor’s four 76.2cm wide positive drive Camso track units through John Deere’s 21 speed e21 powershift transmission.  The 9RX 830 has an impressive turning circle of just 6.8m and also comes equipped with a structural cast chassis that supports a heavy-duty category 5 drawbar and electro-hydraulic power take off.

You’ll be able to read more about the performance of this impressive tractor in a future issue of Farm Machinery Journal.
