Massey Ferguson 9S.425

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to photograph and write about Massey Ferguson’s current flagship rigid tractor, the 425hp 9S.425, which was being demonstrated at Foxton Farmers by dealer Peacock & Binnington’s Rob Atkins. The tractor appeared on the front cover of the August 2025 issue of Farm Machinery Journal.

Massey Ferguson’s new flagship range of award winning 285hp to 425hp 9S rigid tractors was launched at Agritechnica in Germany towards the end of 2023, whilst the range topping 9S.425 made its UK debut shortly afterwards at LAMMA in January 2024.

The 9S range replaced the 8700S series and features a raft of design changes. Twin turbocharging has made way for a single turbo set up that provides more room and air flow within the engine bay, whilst the six cylinder 8.4lit six-cylinder AGCO Power engine used throughout the range is equipped with a new, simplified all-in-one Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Selective Catalytic (SCR) system to meet Stage 5 emissions legislation in preference to the 8700S’s complex Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.
